Titanium welded pipe

Titanium welded pipes are pipe materials produced by the "forming-welding" process using titanium plates or titanium strips. They feature a distinct weld seam. A titanium metal sheet is rolled into a cylindrical shape, and then, just like suturing a wound, the joint is fused together at high temperatures.

Production process


1.Material preparation: Use cold-rolled titanium strip as the raw material.


2.Forming: The titanium strip is continuously rolled into a tubular shape through a series of rollers.


3.Welding: A crucial step. Usually, inert gas tungsten arc welding is employed to fuse the rolled pipe seams. To protect the weld seam, the entire process is carried out under the strict protection of inert gas to prevent the high-temperature titanium from being contaminated by oxygen and nitrogen in the air.


4.Post-processing: After welding, online heat treatment is usually carried out to relieve stress. Then, processes such as sizing and non-destructive testing are conducted to ensure the quality is up to standard.


Application


Due to its advantages in thin-walled and cost aspects, titanium welded pipes are widely used, especially in fields that require efficient heat exchange or the transportation of corrosive fluids.


Heat exchange equipment: This is one of its largest application markets. In condensers of power plants, evaporators of seawater desalination plants, and heat exchangers of chemical plants, thin-walled titanium welded tubes are widely used to efficiently transfer heat.


Chemical Engineering and Energy: Process pipelines used for transporting corrosive media, such as caustic soda, acetic acid, and seawater, can significantly extend equipment lifespan and reduce maintenance downtime.


Marine engineering: Utilizing its outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, it is applied in shipbuilding, offshore platforms, and marine aquaculture equipment.


Special fields: For instance, manufacturing titanium internal threaded pipes with internal threads can significantly enhance heat exchange efficiency, and they can be used in high-demanding scenarios such as swimming pool heat exchangers.
